Souvik Basu is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Computer Applications at Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, India. He received Ph.D. in Computer Science & Technology from Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology, Shibpur. He received M. Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology and B.Sc. (Statistics) from Calcutta University. He has more than 19 years of experience in academics and research. His research interests include delay tolerant networks, decentralized security systems, trust management, mathematical modeling, blockchain technologies and ICT leveraged social applications. He has several publications in high impact journals and refereed international conference proceedings. He also has a monograph and several book chapters to his credit. He has been the co-principal investigator of a R&D project on disaster management funded by AICTE, Government of India. He also works in a multi-institutional collaborative project on disaster management funded by ITRA, Media Lab Asia, Government of India. He is currently a technology partner in a DST, Govt. of India funded R&D project “Creating a digitally enabled social knowledge management platform for rural SC community to bridge rural-urban knowledge, information and market divide”.
